Hey, it’s tax day! So it’s time to pay my dues, and I’d rather pay them to these fine folks. Make sure to pay them a visit.
Huge traffic spikes yesterday thanks to Jesus Loves the Racist Children getting some play over at Everything Is Terrible. Why not check out this incredible site and share the love. They’re good people, and you can see stuff like this
I have contest winner and faithful reader Jeff Sparkman to thank this week, who is sending me a box of cartoon crud in the mail. At his site, he posts the Spongebob Squarepants Burger King commercial that has some conservative talking heads up in arms for using kid’s cartoons in a “sexually suggestive” manner. Well, what do you think? Does it cross the line? Or, more importantly, isn’t the King suppposed to stay 50 ft away from children at all times? Don’t act like you don’t know why.
And remember, Willie says Pay Yo Taxes!

Who on Earth thought that was a good idea? I love how BK doesn’t mind associating their brand with creepy and disturbing imagery, but…yeah.

But is it anymore innappropriate then playing the actual song at every single school dance since the early 90s?
Comment by Chris Ward — April 15, 2009 @ 10:55 am
There’s the thing, it’s not so much the song itself as the plethora of dancing women AND the King feeling free to touch them AND the Spongebob clips popping up to keep kids watching…the list goes on. Ultimately it’s just the whole vibe of the commercial that smacks of the skeevy.

I’ll admit that I’m more than a little turned on right now.

You know, now that I think of it, this is like the kid’s version of the Aphex Twin “Windowlicker” video.
Comment by Chris Ward — April 15, 2009 @ 12:20 pm
Oh, god. That commercial wasn’t actually on TV, was it? It’s like someone at Burger King headquarters said, “Our commercials aren’t creepy enough. How can we disturb more people?” And the magazine cover at 1:52 is so implicitly horrible that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at a sponge again. Thank god for Sham-Wow.
And now I’m going to have nightmares about the Burger King mascot terrorizing the countryside, trying to sodomize every square object he sees.

…here from E.T.I.T.
great little videos you have here.

No. Not again. This video sounds hilarious to watch at five in the morning, but it’s every bit as horrible. And I just noticed that 1:26 clearly has a looping clip of SpongeBob humping the floor. Why is this video in existence? If someone tried to perform this they would be arrested, or at least kicked off the Burger King premises. If 2 Live Crew was banned from performing in public, the least the authorities can do is to get rid of this horrific commercial that I keep watching out of pure idiocy.

Why are you people focusing on the King? Are we not here to gape in horror at “That Teen Show” and its furthered error of the late ’70s / early ’80s that audiences love sad sack potato faces like Tim Slowe?
It’s kind of awful that they interviewed Herve since he did, in fact, kill himself.
